OVER Kansas City Were it not for a significant chance of rain in the Kansas City area this evening, this play very likely would have made my pay play list! The Royals send Kyle Davies to the mound tonight and he has quickly come back down to earth after the good start to the season that he had. Davies strong start surprised most everyone and his most recent results are more indicative of what to expect from Davies in the coming weeks! He gave up 7 runs on 8 hits in just 4 innings against the Orioles in his most recent start and he was very fortunate to escape that start with a no decision. Davies was also roughed up in his only career appearance against the White Sox as they got to him for six runs and seven hits in 4.3 innings last September. The key here is that the Royals offense should help Davies out as they get to a fading Jose Contreras. The White Sox right-hander does have great career numbers against the Royals and this does include a solid start against them this season. However, he has a 4.83 ERA on the road and hes been hit at a .290 clip away from home! His ERA has ballooned from 2.76 to over 4 in the five starts since Contreras last faced the Royals. Contreras wont fare nearly as well at Kauffman Stadium as he did at U.S. Cellular and this one should turn into a high scoring affair as a result.
