A buddy I had not talked to all weekend asked me this morning at breakfast how my weekend went. It was hard not to just laugh. I gave him an honest reply, which I always do. I said friday was great, saturday was a total disaster and sunday was great again. In other words, a roller coaster. I then added, another week at the office.
The Missouri Tigers WON a game! And it was an added bonus that the victim was the Arkansas Razorbacks coached by ex Mizzou HC Mike Anderson. Feel good moments have been few and far between so it was just nice to see the kids actually prevail in a game. I think things had gotten to the point where after losing 13 straight games the opponents just were not taking them seriously and it was bound to reach up and bite some team at some point. Well, enter Arkansas. Not exactly the best coached or brightest bunch to be found. They were prime candidates. I still thought the Hogs would take care of it because lets face it, the Tigers were just so bad. But the Hogs bared their asses and to the Tigers credit they hung in and sealed the deal.
Obviously the Super Bowl was talked to death. What a game. One observation I made at the party we attended. It is a common thing here at the forum to see people crow and thump their chests or scream bloody murder well before a game is over. We all see it all the time. Year after year. And it is often the same culprits. I used to address it but basically gave up. It is as they say what it is. But at this party where there were folks who had bets but don't usually bet it was a riot. Guys were exchanging money and settling up at half time. I suggested they wait until the game actually played out and they looked at my like I was a cyclops. I just looked at a couple of buddies who actually have a clue about such things and we shook our heads. But besides all that nonsense, the game down the stretch was just amazing. No other word. So many key moments in that game. The Falcons were IN field goal range with a shot to make it a two score game and went backwards. That was HUGE. Amazing catches. Clutch throws by Brady. Just amazing game. That game will be impossible for next year to live up to. Love them or loathe them, the New England Patriots are winners. Period.
That was about the size of it this morning. But that was enough. I still shake my head thinking back on that game.
