Yup, this was no ordinary morning at breakfast. Lines like I have never seen at every polling place I drove by. My personal wait was not too bad. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I had one buddy who waited an hour this morning at around 6. All the chatter is about over. The endless parade of political ads are about to be gone. One thing that kept going through my mind was all the money spent campaigning. We are a country in debt to our eye balls and beyond and ungodly funds are going into campaigns. Oh well, I have always honored my pledge that these posts would not be about politics. There are plenty of other threads one can go into for that sort of discussion.
Obviously being a national election day frankly most the talk this morning around the table was on that. I brought up Missouri football but thought for a moment some cups of steaming hot coffee were going to be hurled my way. I reside right here in Columbia, home of Mizzou. So it would have been in bad form for me to bring up my big winner in college football saturday on South Carolina. Actually the general opinion was they showed some fight. That is how far things have slipped. They showed some fight. Good grief. And it's not like anyone is counting the hours until the basketball season starts around here. We're approaching rock bottom. Yes, I am a fan. I always will be. But it is what it is.
Our buddy who is the die hard Cubs fan finally sobered up. Never seen the guy party like that. We're all grateful he survived the thing. Not sure we will ever hear the end of it but god bless him, he waited his whole life. My wife was also happy. Her late father John, who just passed last february was a life long Cubs fan. Every one of his 88 years. John did not quite make it to see his Cubs get it done. So she was kind of emotional about the thing which was totally understandable. Being a die hard Cardinals fan it is simply an unnatural act to actually root for the Chicago Cubs, But for my wife I was okay with it. Now it is up to my Cardinals to get busy and restore order around here. The Cubs are looking good and built to last. St Louis has it's work cut out for them.
I am waiting impatiently and jump every time my cell phone goes off. My oldest daughter who resides in southern california is about to present us with our first grand daughter. Any time now. Literally. I have two grandsons, 11 and 6 but this will be the first little girl. The wait is getting nerve wracking.
That was about it for today guys. Like I said, I won't do the political thing here. Main thing is to get out and vote. Nothing worse than some idiot who runs his mouth bitching non stop and then does not actually vote. Those creeps are the worse.
Take care and back at ya later. Hopefully with a safely delivered birth announcement. Enjoy this crazy day.
