Yes, good stuff with the baseball post season now in full swing and football going strong. But frankly this morning at the diner the mood was somber. In mid missouri we live with the reality that tornadoes are always a possibility. But hurricanes are foreign to us. It is a pretty helpless feeling watching the news and seeing the clips from the coast. I had a class reunion last weekend and one of my class mates, David and his family live down there. He touched base on FB to let us know he was okay. But it is just a awful deal. What seems to go under the radar some is the major hit poor Haiti took head on. One of my daughters is a wreck over that, she has been on several mission trips to Haiti and loves the people she has met and dealt with there. Now she does not know about their well being and it's tough. So basically today we sat and ate and watched the TV coverage with everyone else. One thing did set me off some. I saw where some hotels and motel, gas stations, etc are blatantly price gouging. That makes me sick. One guy in the room chirped up saying what about free enterprise. I told him he must be joking. There is a major difference between free market and what these jerks are doing. When I travel to Green Bay on a football weekend I understand I will be paying a premium for a room, supply and demand. I get that. I am there by my own choosing. Massive difference between that and a place charging three or four times their normal rate and taking advantage of folks in a bad spot due to a situation like this. Major difference. Those businesses should all be exposed and have the spot light of truth shined on them. This is not business, this is wrong, plain and simple.
Actually that was about the size of it today. Not to be a downer but real life takes front stage guys. Sports is not always real world. What is happening to innocent families along the coast is. Please keep a good thought for them as they contend with this monster.
