RJ asked me if I would post a free NFL release weekly throughout the regular season. I obliged. It is all part of the commitment we have at Pregame to provide free content. He is very much in favor of his handicappers giving back to the community. I could not agree with him more.
My record with these selections to date this season stands at 2-2. I felt very confident up to the end last week that that mark was going to be 3-1. I had given out the Browns as the comp winner plus 8. I watched a good part of that game and anyone else who did knows the Browns oh sol easily should have covered the number. But, as we all know there is nothing fair about wagering on sports. A team like Cleveland simply has to learn to close. Teams like that just don't understand yet what it takes to seal the deal and that was a painful lesson for them in Washington. The Browns were running the ball at will but nothing will blow up a teams chances faster than turnovers. We lost the bet, but I don't feel it was a bad call. It happens.
This week I am suggesting a small wager on the Titans plus 3.5 at Miami. A pair of 1-3 clubs both sorely in need of a victory. Frankly I have a real tough time trusting Ryan Tannehill and the Fish laying more than a field goal. To me their offense looks pretty weak and the defense has not been what I expected. And if the Dolphin defense cannot consistently come up big this team will struggle mightily. As soon as you start to believe Tannehill is getting it he makes a bone headed play. The clock is ticking on decision time with this guy. Miami will need to access the situation and decide if he is truly the one to take them to the promised land. To be candid, I'm skeptical. Let's face it, they could easily be 0-4, the Browns could have won that game easily. Also, I know some people love having some trends to lean on. No shortage in this one guys. The stubborn fact is the Dolphins are a really lousy team against the number at home. Yes, strange but true. They have covered a miserable two of the last dozen games on their home turf. They have also only covered the number twice in the last fourteen games squaring off against LOSING teams. Obviously weather could play a factor in if this thing is even played sunday but provided they do get it in, I say take the points and the Titans guys as your weekly free NFL release.
On the business side I cashed a nice Triple last night with Bumgarner and the Giants. 2-0 start to the post season. I do not have a featured release in baseball today. I will not publish one unless convinced it's valid. Does it cost sales? Oh hell, yes. Lot's. But it is important to me that my clients know when I post a big play it is for the right reasons. I do have two huge featured releases loaded for saturday and sunday. My ACC Game of the Year kicks off saturday and another NFL Triple Star Rabid Dog is loaded for sunday. I released a total of three football Triple Star featured releases last weekend and we cashed all of them. In college with Georgia and in league play with the Rams outright over the Cardinals and then the Vikings monday night as they dominated the Giants. Anyway, this weekends featured releases are loaded and ready.
Many thanks as always. And please, everyone keep a good thought for those in the line of fire on the east coast as Hurricane Matthew bears down. This looks like a bad one. Real bad one.
