Not a typical weekend. Returned home for my reunion weekend. Always a good time. Starts with the homecoming parade in downtown Moberly, then the game that night. Then every year the whole town has a huge reunion party and it's welcome to everyone from any class, any year. The thing is real popular and had grown each year. LOTS of partying. Usually after the friday night party we get up on saturday and drive home. But this year was also my class's reunion so saturday night was right back at it again. Had a lot of people come in from all over and it was a great time. Fun sitting around the pool until 3 in the am talking with old high school buddies you rarely see.
Shocking news when I woke up and saw the announcement that Jose Fernandez was killed at 24 in a boating accident. There are times when there truly are no words and this was one of them. On the other end of the spectrum we lost Arnold Palmer to heart issues at 87. Always tough to say good bye but Arnie seemingly lived a glorious life. By all accounts a good man as well and that is, in the end, the most important factor of all.
Obviously I was not at the Mizzou game saturday against Delaware State where they waxed them 79-0. By all accounts the game should not have been even scheduled. But the weird deal was they played the second half with shortened quarters to put the thing out of it's misery. That it turned out totally screwed over all the people who had bet Mizzou in the game. That just blows, big time. Personally I had no skin in the game. I did post a free release on Mizzou only. Speaking of free releases. I posted one shortly before kickoff last night and some clown came into the forum freaking the hell out because the Bears were down. There are some great people around here and through the years I have built some solid friendships. But there are some dangerously ignorant souls roaming the halls as well. Just saying.
Obviously a huge topic at breakfast this morning was the debate. I made a vow to keep politics out of this thread so that's going to be it for today. Hope everyone has a great day.
