First of all happy mothers day to all the mom's out there. I would venture to say about 2% of the people on this forum are of the (born) female persuasion. BUT, there are many guys here who are fortunate enough to still have your mom's around. If you fall into that category I strongly encourage you to do something special for her today, Those of us who have lost our mom's know what we would give for the opportunity to spend the day with her once again. I had a wonderful mom and miss her terribly. She attended more ball games when my big brother and I were growing up than I am sure she really cared to. She was a very successful realtor but always seemed to find the time to drive to practices, out of town games, whatever it took. Of course as kids we take that stuff for granted. Then when we have our own kids and raise our own families we realize just how much weight that lady carries. If they do it right. It's a helluva job.
Okay, it was on this date back in 2000 that Mark McGwire of the Cardinals hit his 534th juice induced home run in the big's He tied Jimmie Fox, who did things the right way, on the all time home run list. I've been a Cardinals fan since the 1960's, love the Cards. Most my friends are the same. The Cardinals have one of the most loyal fan bases in the nation. I do not know of any former player who has dropped off the radar of Cardinals fans more than McGwire. People simply do not pay any attention whatsoever to his career or what he did in St Louis. It is like he never really played there. Completely and utterly disowned. Kind of sad but like all things, the result of decisions he chose to make.
Okay, a free winner. I will suggest a small play on the Blue Jays over the Dodgers. Little chalky but frankly there are not a lot of plays on the board today that offer up much value in my opinion. After a sluggish start in the bases things are starting to heat up and have cashed on 10 of the last 13 releases. Just trying hard to pick my spots.
On the business side I do have my NBA Triple Star Game of the Month in play. Yesterday I cashed my NBA Rabid dog release on the Blazer's as they came up huge in a must win game for them. I was wrong in thinking the Heat would win at home. That one shocked a lot of people. Myself included. Once again proof positive the league is a crazy animal, particularly in the post season.
That's it. Taking the wife out to a nice sunday brunch. She's a great mom and deserves everything good I can ever do for her. Not just today. I'm a lucky guy. Enjoy your sunday fellas and best of luck with your action.
