Cashed with the easy free winner yesterday and tonight I am suggesting a small wager on the Oregon State Beavers catching the 3.5 as home dog to Utah.
It was on this date back in 1969 that the big guy, John Madden was named head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Madden became a living legend. Talk about a coach who wore his heart on his sleeve. But nobody could deny that the man could motivate and coach. He was usually given charge of a real assortment of characters but somehow usually managed to get the Raiders to come together and play as a team. I personally miss the days with the renegade Raiders. Guys like the Tooz, big John Matusak, Lyle Alzado, Ted Hendricks, Jack Tatum, Skip Thomas. On and on. The NFL just seems more fun when the Raiders are the Raiders. Hopefully Jack Del Rio has them on the right path. I know some people did not care for Madden in the booth later on but I enjoyed the guy. Pat Summerall and John Madden just SOUNDED like NFL football. I would love to listen to him do some games now, with the quick flags for being too, well, physical. Madden loved nothing more than snot bubblers. I'd love to hear him after a linebacker put a great stick on a quarterback coming off the corner and then got the flag tossed for unsportsmanlike conduct. It would be a hoot to listen to Madden bellow. I'd love to know what his cut is on the video game that carries his brand. Good grief.
On the business side I have just loaded my featured release for tonight. It is in college hoops. Last night I pushed with the Ole Miss Rebels prevailing over the Missouri Tigers and landing right on our number. I'm a Missouri fan and loved the effort last night. But the harsh reality is they played over their heads some guys. They were throwing in some threes that well, let's just say I've seen enough practices to know. I will leave it at that. BUT, they are still playing hard for Anderson and there is something to be said for that. These kids do not even have a conference tourney to look forward to. Nothing whatsoever after the sanctions handed down by the NCAA. The fact his club is still scrapping is a tribute to Kim Anderson.
It's my understanding the flash sale ends today. I've been quietly heating up with the hoops and have hit on 11 of the last 14 overall releases with a push. This Pregame flash sale provides legitimate 80% savings over the course of a month opposed to daily buying. Valid deal guys.
One final note. It was on this date back in 1997 that a civil jury found OJ liable in the deaths of Nicole and Ron Goldman. Goldman's folks were awarded 8.5 million in damages. Not sure what, if anything they have actually collected since the verdict came down. Of course as we all know, Simpson is currently behind bars for that fiasco in Vegas. Reportedly in poor health. I cannot recall a celebrity in my lifetime who came to such a crashing end. For those of us who grew up watching Simpson play in college at USC and later in the league it is still stunning. I can still see him racing through the airports doing those Hertz commercials. Such a waste. He was my son in laws neighbor in Brentwood at the time of the killing. It shocked a lot of people. But, you just never really know what is going on in some folks minds guys.
Okay, that is it for today. Thanks and best of luck with your action tonight guys.
