Been an eventful time of late but now things are settling back into some semblance of normality. Met with the guys this morning for breakfast and the mood was jovial. This is Chiefs country and the fans are riding high. First the Royals and now the Chiefs. Great times for Kansas City fans and their spirits were furthermore lifted with the news Jeremy Maclin has a high ankle sprain and not another torn ACL. Remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to go sunday in New England. Of course I was given static for taking the Texans as a featured release. I usually do great with playoff triples but stepped in a big pile there. The Texans got their asses handed to them on their home field, plain and simple. But these are my friends and they were nice about it, they also knew I bounced back strong. They also know how big a fan I am of the Packers and although I had a release on Green Bay yesterday I limited it to a single. I knew the Redskins were what they were, but by the same token the Packers offense had appeared broken for some time now. Was really glad to see them come to life. Looked more like the old Packers yesterday.
Interesting to see the attitude towards the title game tonight. Now that Mizzou is part of the SEC the locals are picking up the banner. Most everyone around Columbia is pulling hard for the Tide tonight. I have a neighbor who is an attorney and he is a Clemson graduate and they are in Arizona for the game tonight. Got to give him credit, he has traveled to most their games this season. Devoted and loyal fan.
Sorry to hear this morning of the passing of David Bowie. Heard he was 69 and that hardly seems possible. He was ahead of his time.
I always scan the events in sports history to see what stands out and one thing caught my eye. It was on this date back in 1976 that the Russian Olympic hockey team skated off the ice during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Seemed they did not approve of the Flyers rough tactics. Wish I had seen that. Big bad hockey players skating off because the Flyers were playing too rough.
Poor Blair Walsh. He will live with that kick the rest of his life. Same thing happened to the Chiefs years ago when Lin Elliot shanked one in the clutch. Unreal ending. Just when you think nothing can shock you anymore that happens. Had to be brutal walking into the locker room afterwards.
Anyway, big game tonight. Enjoy it guys.
