Not a coffee guy after lunch. And in all honesty I don't drink beer in the afternoons. Not even daily, lol. But seemed more appropriate than morning coffee for a title this time of day. I did meet with the guys and everyone was glad to see coach Pinkel get the win saturday night at Arrowhead against the BYU Cougars. Man, talk about a much needed victory. I was going to pass on the game but when I head he was stepping down I knew the team would rise up and play a good game. I generally have a pretty good feel for the Tiger football team. I've been correct 14 of the last 16, going both for and against them. Anyway, what a week that guy had. He said he had planned on making the announcement sunday but with all the leaks these days and social media he knew once it was spreading around on friday afternoon it was probably wise to go ahead and put it out there. He did not want his players finding out from other sources. Clearly, the Tigers still have major issues on the offensive end but the kids reached down and got it done. I am friends on facebook with one poster here who replied when I told him I liked Mizzou saturday night with a skeptical, oh, win one for the coach, blah, blah. I couldn't help but chuckle. Yes, as corny as it was, I did indeed feel confident the kids would win one for their coach. And the bottom line is they did.
The Chiefs fans in the group were elated. Victories over the Broncos have been a rare thing. It was kind of shocking to see just how badly Manning looked out there. Hell, the game was not even all that competitive. I had posted a free play on the forum on Denver and told my buddies that. Had to eat some crow on that one. On the flip side the Rams laid an egg at home against the Bears. Hard team to get a read on. But Chicago is clearly no joke right now. I had tickets to the Lions and Packers game at Lambeau but chose to give my four tickets to a softball buddy. He took his son and met some of his old college buddies up there for the game. Ouch! The Packers have some real issues right now and that is putting it mildly. I stated when he went down that losing Jordy Nelson was going to be a big hurdle long term and it has played out that way. The Packers simply are not able to stretch the field right now. I would not be at all surprised to see Mike McCarthy resume some of the play calling this sunday at Minnesota in what has suddenly become a very big game.
To be honest, the other talk centered around Paris and the tragedy that took place over there. One of the most worn out phrases in politics is when they talk about thinking about our children and grandchildren. Yes sir, I do. I do not need you to remind me. I happen to be a hall of fame caliber father and grandpa thank you. But in this case we all agreed it was on our minds. We won't be around to help them deal with this insane world that is getting scarier seemingly by the day. It does scare any thinking person with concerns over the well being of their families and the generations inheriting all this chaos. It does scare me but most of all it flat out pisses me off. If we do not deal with ISIS then the stuff we see on the TV newscast will be taking place right here again. Another 9/11 is around the corner. And worse. Just my opinion. We need to work with some of the other sane counties around the globe and step on this bastards and squash them like the rodents they are.
That was about it for today guys. Not talking much about the Mizzou campus situation because, well, I am sick to death of talking about it. Good luck tonight with your action fellas. Cash some tickets.
