A couple of items caught my eye today. The first is a sad one. It was on this date back in 1970 that Brian Piccolo of the Bears passed away from cancer. Most of you have seen the movie Brian's Song. It was a sad ending to a life and from all accounts, a special man. I have read his life story and urge you to do it as well. I still have a Brian Piccolo football card actually. And I can recall watching him play. The fact Piccolo has been gone now for 45 years boggles my mind. The other item worth a mention was that it was on this date back in 1991 that Otis Nixon of the Montreal Expos stole SIX bases in one game. Think about that for a moment. Lou Brock never did that, Maury Wills never did that, Rickey Henderson never did it either. I saw Brock get five one day at Busch Stadium in a double header but to swipe six in one game is sick. I did not look up who the opposing catcher was but I am certain he was not a happy camper. Although the truth is the fault lies more often than not with the pitcher.
Okay guys, a free selection. Tonight I am suggesting a small wager on the American League All Star team, also known as the Royals as they continue their series in Milwaukee against the struggling Brewers. Graza can be a hand full as we all know but the stubborn fact is this Brewers ball club as dropped 9 of their last 12 games at home. The sausage race has been pretty much the highlight for the fans of late. I know there will be those thinking the Brewers are the sharp move, much like yesterday, I am not seeing it. I say take the Royals to put them down again tonight.
On the business side I am off another Triple Star winner monday night, actually with those Kansas City Royals. Every season I try and tell folks to use another Pregame Pro for a season baseball subscription and just take a hard look at my Triples. There are other guys who are better at the daily grind of picking winners in baseball than I am. I do not know how I can possibly be any more honest than that. Football is my strength. But, I always do well with isolating the Triples when I see them in baseball. We have now won 9 this season and only dropped two. Baseball overall has been heating up nicely. We have cashed on 12 of the last 15 baseball releases overall and I feel I am settling into a nice place with the bases. Of course this week dealing with Interleague presents a challenge but I enjoy challenges. I also as a fan enjoy interleague play. I think I am in the minority but I like seeing my Cardinals play teams they don't see often. It's refreshing. On a final note I am not certain whether I will have a featured release for tonight. To be candid I simply have not been able to zero in on any one game that distinguishes itself. As always, if I pull the trigger I will tweet it out immediately.
Thanks guys and best of luck today.
