The weather was warm, and with the wind blowing out to left at 20 mph (ok there was some crosswind also right to left), there was expectations for a Shootout at Wrigley Sunday. In fact the total opened as high as 11, then got bet down to 10, once the markets realized that the wind was not straight out to left, and they realized that this wasn't quite the matchup that we saw when the Phils 23 CUBS 22 game in the late 1970s was played.
Once the game started it became very clear that the starting pitching was going to dominate any wind of the day. Burnett was great shutting out the Cubbies over 7, giving up only 3 hits. The Cubs no1 Starter (no it's not Lester), Arrieta was very good, giving up only 1 through 7 innings. The Pirates finally got an extra 2 vs. the Cubs pen, and, and we saw a 3-0 final, that could have easily have been 1-0, despite a total of 10.
Bottom line: NO WAY I will go against EITHER of these two pitchers going forward. Both are clearly cruising, and this was one great performance by both.
On the capping front, we rolled a solid 9-1-1 on the weekend and look to get RED HOT as the weather heats up.......
