It was on this date that one of the most amazing records in baseball began. It was 1941 and Joe DiMaggio of the Yankees started his insane 56 game hitting streak. It is possibly one of those marks that will never be broken. I have learned through the years to never say never so I will not say it here. But it is highly unlikely it will be topped in my view. Pete Rose gave it a helluva run back in 1978 before getting his streak snapped at 44 games. DiMaggio's streak is one of those that the more you think about it the more you realize just how tough it was.
Okay, from the past into the present. Had a free winner last time out and let's see if I can duplicate it for the forum today. Tonight I am suggesting a small play on the Memphis Grizzlies +180 on the money line. It is put up or shut up time for the Grizzlies. The Warriors have taken them now to the brink. I do not expect Memphis to emerge from this series but I won't be shocked at all if they come up with a monster effort here tonight in the Grind House. This Grizzlies team is a veteran, salty group that has been in tough playoff spots before. They won't blink at the moment. To me, I think it is vital that they dictate pace tonight and not let the Warriors get into a frantic, up temp game. Frankly they also as a group on defense make a commitment to shut down the paint and stop the driving lay ups, time to step up and take some charges. Warriors have had carte blanche to the hoop all too often the last couple of games. I know it is frustrating betting against the Warriors at times because they are capable of getting on run where it seems Curry and Thompson could drop kick the damn ball and it would swish. I do expect a real game here tonight that will be in question to the end. Playing a gamblers hunch here and predicting the Grizzlies get on a plane for one more road trip.
Okay, on the business end I do have a NBA Triple Star release in play tonight. Last night was a split for yours truly as I did not prevail with the Bulls but did cash with the Rockets. Yes, that Houston and Los Angeles game played out exactly as I figured it would. JUST KIDDING! I sat there shaking my head as I suspect most of america was. My eldest daughter and her husband were at the game and I guess it was like zombie land watching the crowd exit Staples last night. Epic comeback and epic melt down by Rivers club.
Okay, that is it for today. Thanks for stopping by and best of luck with your action this weekend guys. Enjoy the games!
