Gents
I had posted a forum thread about a month ago stating my intention to not do MLB this season, as my family has requested I take a summer off for the first time in 23 years and spend some family time. All response from that post was positive and I appreciate the feedback and support. From a biz perspective MLB is the lowest selling sport there is (for me anyway) and quite frankly for the hours put in handicapping it, the ROI is very little, it is not a huge hit to my wallet in any respect.
As we all know, none of this means nothing...... as compared to happy and healthy family life, and that at days end is where I have sided without any afterthought at all. It was a no brainer.
I have a daughter who is a senior in high school this upcoming year and leaving the nest soon, a son in Olympia Washington going to college (Junior there). A wife of 25 years chomping at the bit to travel and spend time with the kiddos and not taking no for an answer. My daughter also has some temporary special needs that need attention as well.
For these reasons, along with burnout on my part, while I will continue with focus on the NBA through July, and work on football with a nice easy pace and more concentration, but I am passing on MLB this season.
I will follow it of course and will attend the Royals opener in KC today, and on occasion post some free play opinions and or takes, and be active in the forum, I will be traveling to Las Vegas house hunting as a potential move this summer is at about 80% a go (details to follow), Washington and Alaska for a 15 day camping trip deep in the wilderness, Colorado, Wisconsin for the PGA Championship at Whistling Straights in August, and hitting Cancun MX with the wife for a week somewhere in there as well. I will still be doing my Yahoo Sports Radio Show on Thursday's and Teddy Covers will fill in for me when I am gone along with my co host Steve Rich.
I have appreciated 22 years of MLB business from many of you here since my arrival at Pregame in 2006, and clients that have been with me 2 decades. I wish you the best of luck this season and hope to add a few insights from time to time you may use to beat the book. I look forward to a well prepared football season with added time to prepare and study and absorb added info.
I look forward to kick ass run to end the NBA Season and hope everyone reading this buries the books in Bases....there are a ton of great Pro Cappers here to help you do that, as well as some very sharp forum guys in here that have great free info.......TG
