It was on this date back in 1997 that pro golfer John Daly checked himself into the Betty Ford clinic after being on a drinking binge. Daly was one of those guys that I couldn't help but root for. He was like Babe Ruth of golf, of course on a small scale. But he pretty much did as he pleased, smoking and drinking and then playing the games. It was obviously sad because you could see he was a train wreck waiting to happen, but I'd find myself rooting for him. We have all seen some athlete battle off the field of play issues. The late Steve Howe was a classic example. That guy did enough blow to fill a truck I suspect. In and out of rehab constantly. We've seen how destructive coke can be. Back in the day in baseball locker rooms there would be all the free beer the guys wanted after a game but that is not a different scene. I know the Cardinals pulled the suds after a young pitcher died in a drunk driving accident.
Okay, a free play for tonight. Going to the league and suggesting a wager on the Grizzlies as they host the Kings. I suspect Sacramento will be a trendy pick today after winning four of their last five games but I am not buying it. The Grizzles admittedly are stumbling into this game and the playoffs in general. I think Memphis chalks up a sound home win tonight against the Kings. Faded the Grizzlies last night, that was against the Spurs. Kings don't remotely resemble Pops crew.
On the business side I have loaded up a Final Four Triple Star Release already. There was one game I didn't need much time at all to decide on. It is up and available. Many thanks and best of luck to everyone this week.
