As I scan the daily moments I always try to find something most everyone will find interesting. It is not as easy as you might suspect. There is a significant age swing here and some guys couldn't care less about things that happened back when the games were carried on black and white TV. Then there are those who enjoy the diversion and a trip down memory lane. I do the best I can. I am a history buff in general and obviously a sports nut, this is a fun project for me. Anyway, on this date back in 1962 Wilt Chamberlain had a pretty big night against the Knicks. The Sixers won the game 169-147, Wilt did his part putting up 100 points. It is my opinion there are few players from that era who could compete at the NBA level today and have success. Wilt is atop that list. He was well ahead of his time. I feel some others would be Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Connie Hawkins, Bill Russell and with the 3 point play now a part of the game the ABA has a 3 point sharp shooter named Louie Dampier who likely could catch a spot. This is all off the top of my head and I am certain I have missed some deserving players. Bob Lanier and Elvin Hayes come to mind right off.
Okay, onward to a free release. Last week we cashed on a nice Triple with Scott Drews Baylor Bears going up to Ames and not only covering the number but handing the Cyclones their only loss at Hilton this season. That is a brutal place to play for visitors and it was no small feat. Drew's club has shown in the past they tend to get stronger as the season progresses. Much like Dana Altman clubs. Tonight they go to Austin to do battle with the Longhorns and I say they take care of business. These are two clubs heading in the opposite direction. Baylor will be a nightmare match up for someone in a few weeks in the dance. I say take the Bears tonight against Texas. As I enter this in the Bears are catching 3 points.
On the business side I do have a college Double Star featured release loaded up. I have now cashed in on 18 of my last 23 college releases and have cashed on five straight Triples. Love our chances to tip off the new week in style.
Okay, that is it for now. Thanks as always for stopping by and best of luck with your action tonight.
