It was on this date in 1935 that the Yankees signed the Iron Man, Lou Gehrig to a contract for $30,000. Little did they know that Gehrig was dying from the disease that now bears his name. ALS. I've seen up close and personal how hideous this disease truly is. The mind remains intact and sharp yet everything around it just slowly shuts down rendering the victim utterly helpless. I pray they get the corner turned in research to put this disease in mankind's rear view mirror. I know by today's standards 30K is nothing, but keep in mind some of these things. Back then at the store a dozen eggs were 18 cents, loaf of bread a nickel, bacon 38 cents a pound, a roast 15 cents a pound and the best steaks a mere 22 cents per pound. But the bookies did still charge 10% juice, some things never change, lol.
Okay, a free play. This is strictly a free suggestion more or less just to be straight. I'm seeing a lot of tight lines out there today guys. I will take the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky and the points as they tangle with the Blazers of UAB. I realize WK has dropped the last two games but tonight they get back on track. The Blazers are a .500 club and have also lost their last couple of games so something has to give here. I like getting the points with the better team here. Take WK.
On the business side I have a NBA Double Star in play tonight. Last night was solid as we went a spotless 4-0 on the subscriber plays. No, I do not have a Triple but there are two games saturday I am very eagerly awaiting numbers on.
That is it for this time around. Thanks and best of luck tonight with your action guys.
