Strictly my observations - I am sure you have others
WELCOME TO WEEK 1 of the NFL! The Bills, Dolphins, Falcons, Vikings and Titans pull off upsets - Jacksonville scared Philly for 3 quarters and the Dallas Cowboys, well they are Dallas again and Tony Romo is back up to his usual giving them no chance to win what so ever. Perhaps Jerry Jones was correct in thinking he should have drafted Manziel, at least they would be exciting while they lose!
The Underdogs ruled the roost on Sunday, and while Monday Night is pending while I post this blog, it was apparent to many in Survivor Pools and those laying chalk on Sunday that the season is going to be a long one and hopefully no one blew their bankroll in Week 1. Vegas Sportsbooks were wall to wall and standing room only this weekend and the line was out the door at Westgate (LVH) with people waiting to wager. The handle in Vegas was very large and early returns from my sources say the books made out well on Sunday.
The Underdogs went 9-5 ATS and the Survivor pools who had Chicago went down, I was one of them, as the Bills pulled the biggest shock of the weekend followed closely by Miami’s butt kicking of New England.
The Totals were as high as I had seen for an opening weekend, no game opened under 40 until some line movement on the board, and the Over went 6-8 ATS versus the Under so Oddsmakers over adjusted and inflated some lines and many were thinking lots of scoring, and just the opposite happened in more games than not.
A Few Key Points we learned
- New England not all that – Defense is bad
- Kansas City’s offense woeful – Not going 9-0 to start the season this year!
- Bronco’s defense still not all that even with additions – Von Miller a no show
- Andrew Luck one of the Top 4 QB’s in the NFL
- The Falcons are physical – and a contender again
- Tampa Bay still sucks
- Jacksonville no pushover – Chad Henne not bad as you think
- The Steelers Big Ben still has it
- Chicago Bears could not stop Grandma running the ball
- Minnesota is no easy out for anyone in NFC Central
- Seattle is still the most dominant team in the NFL
- Be careful laying numbers – Betting on past perception
- The Dallas Cowboys have regressed, if that is possible – Romo needs benched, Letting Kyle Orton go was a mistake
- Redskins need to let RG III loose, or start QB Cousins
- Cincy has the studs to win division, Ravens need Rice back quickly
