Today I noticed one item that surprised me, and that does not happen as much as it used to. It was on this date clear back in 1939 that the first televised baseball game was shown. It was a twin bill featuring the Reds and Dodgers. Frankly I didn't know the first telecast occurred that early on. The explosion of sports coverage in my lifetime is unreal. When I was a small boy you had occasional Cardinals road games covered on TV. Always road games and typically only on weekends. As for national broadcasts it was the NBC game of the week and that was it guys. Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek with the call. I remember getting the Sporting News weekly in the mail and I would sit there are read every box score. Teams such as the Angels were just names on a page. Hell, I never got to see them in action. That is why the all star game was SO much bigger in that era. Fans tuned in to see players they rarely got to see. It was completely different than now. It still boggles my mind when I see that access I now have, NFL sunday ticket, MLB extra innings, college football packages, NBA season ticket. It's glorious for the fans and not so much for the spouses.
Okay, yesterday's free play was a mutt as the Royals got home from a good road trip and were welcomed by an adoring home crowd and then in typical Royals fashion bungled the opportunity by getting hammered by the Yankees. I'm being a little hard on them I know. I just hope they make the post season again finally. Their fans deserve it. This team just has a way of tripping at the most inopportune times. I've observed it for years. Tonight I am suggesting a small wager on the Rays and Cobb as they take on the Orioles.
On the business side it was painful watching the Pirates last night against my Cardinals. They dropped a one run decision by a 3-2 final. It's really rough to prevail when you hit into four double plays. That was a tough one. But, with that being said we've still cashed on 19 of the last 24 baseball selections. Still looking hard at today's board and one game in particular. If I pull the trigger I will tweet it out immediately as always guys. The season pass for both college & NFL is still available and frankly I think that is the best way to go. You get both and they run through the entire season. My clients picked up exactly 100 units profit last season when all was said and done. And that is based on the Pregame standard 1-3 star scale. Not sure how many other sites put those kind of numbers up, I mean in the real world if you get my drift. Football season is almost upon us and the boiler rooms are like bird dogs on point during the opening weekend of quail season. Seen it a thousand times. Naive sports bettors who are hearing what they want to hear. Well, I can only say I treat my clients the way I'd want to be treated and they know it. We win money in football together and also realize not every weekend will be a winning one. Our feet are firmly planted in reality. But when the dust settles we certainly are not on the bookies christmas card list I will just put it that way.
Okay, tons of work to be done and I'm on it. Good luck with your action today guys!
