Many times what you see in the preseason is completely useless once the regular season starts. But sometimes you can extrapolate something you have witnessed into a money making opportunity in the future.
With the NFL looking to open up the passing game by calling more defensive penalties we have seen offenses moving briskly down the field in the early going. As briskly as you can I guess when penalties are involved. But despite the new rules giving advantage to the offenses we have seen two west coast clubs struggle early on. The first halves have seen mostly a combination of first and second string players with some third stringers seeing action in the teams opener. During that time both Oakland and San Diego haven't been up to snuff putting points on the board. The Chargers have been shutout in the first stanza in both games while scoring just 17 total before intermission. The Raiders have also drawn blanks in the first two opening quarters while managing just 10 combined first half points in two games. Is this a precursor to the regular season or just small sample size numbers? We shall see in the coming weeks.
