With Tiger out of the picture (for at least another 10 days)...the focus will surely move to the #2 golfer on the PGA Tour....and the focus was on Phil to be the player that would fill those shoe (or spikes   haha).

Steve Stricker, who has finished in the top 10 in all 3 of the events he has played this year, won this past sunday and has now taken over the #2 spot in the world. 

 

It is something that was likely missed due to the wonderful game we were all watching last night.   but this is surely something of note to keep an eye on.  Steve is still way to far behind tiger to make a move on #1 anytime soon...and he has quite a few guys below him that would enjoy taking this #2 spot.  But for now, it's all his.  Enjoy it Steve....you earned it!!!

What I really enjoy about golf is that anyone, at any given time and place, can have a great run and really jump up in the rankings. You don't have to be young, but you do need to be consistent. Stricker has been around for a while. Mickelson, the same. Every year there seems to be a lot of movement in the Top 10. When Els, Singh, Furyk and Love where rocking the Top 10 a few years ago, now you have a new crop of players including Stricker, Westwood, McIrloy and Stenson. It's a game of great parity and dynamics.

yeah thats for sure....and even more than the world rankings....Every Single Week!!    Not only the winners...but the guys coming in 2nd and 3rd, etc....

more often than not, you have the big names at the top of thoes lists....but that not always the case and there are always lots of 'small time' names that are up there in the hunt week in and week out.

are you a big golf fan sawastea??   ever wager on the sport??    ive been makin a few posts for the last two events....mike hook has been nice enough to share some thoughts as well.....hopefully some gain interst in betting in the sport or at least its a place where guys can post their thoughts who are already interested  -- ur always welcome!  and ill have something for this weeks event in about a day or two  -- keep an eye out.

very nice!!   you mean USGA Index though?????    ... maybe we should hit it around some time  :)

on a side note....ive called the exact final score the last two events....as i said, i will be making a post shortly for this weeks event at Pebble....would luv to hear your thoughts after i make my post, etc.

not sure about that....stricker has made the top 10 in all 3 events he played this year  (1st, 3rd and 10th)...while Phil has finished 19th and 45 this year.

Last Year:  both phil and steve had 3 wins.....Steve had one more 2nd place...Steve had 1 more 3rd place....he made 4 more top 10s....and he made 9 more top 25s than phil. 

so im not sure you can say phil is more reliable to get the job done...phil also is far less accurate with his drive (a bit under 70% vs UNDER 50%)...and so far this year phil has played VERY poorly on sundays.

 

im sure phil will turn things around and have a solid year....im just not sure you can call him more reliable.
