My Last Day as a New England Patriot

by Tommy Rider on 07/29/2008 10:52 PM

Today I walked out of Gillette Stadium for the final time. While I had a great time working for the Patriots and did things I will remember forever, I'm also extremely excited about the opportunity I have with Pregame. I honestly believe with the people RJ has assembled, the sky is the limit for this company in the coming years. I'm honored to be a part of the Pregame team and foaming at the mouth to finally get at it in a couple of weeks.

Now that my time with the Patriots is over, I'm sure some of you would be interested in info from a guy who worked on the inside of an NFL Dynasty. Before I give out that info, I want to make it clear that nobody in that organization did wrong by me. Bill Belichick never yelled at me and the players were more than accommodating 99 percent of the time. I have no axes to grind with anyone. The things I write below are simply the truth from information I've obtained and observations I've made over the years.

--Tedy Bruschi is much more popular with the fans than he is with his teammates. He isn't the team leader people think he is. Actually, Bruschi rarely talks to any of his teammates. He and Mike Vrabel used to be close but they rarely interact anymore either. Bruschi is just an unlikable person in general and I think his teammates know what's what and get sick of his act. He created an image that he presents to the public but his teammates know better. The real leaders of the Patriots are Tom Brady, Matt Light, Richard Seymour and the top guy, Rodney Harrison. Harrison is actually one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet off the field, which is a total contrast to his sometimes dirty play on it.

--Corey Dillon is about the most miserable piece of shit you would ever want to encounter. You should see the looks and gestures he would give fans when we went on the road. Sometimes an athlete's reputation is blown up by the media but that wasn't the case with Dillon. There is no doubt in my mind that he will end up in jail at some point. You don't have to be a good guy to be a star in the NFL and no one is a better example of that than Dillon.

--Randy Moss is the best player I've ever seen with my own eyes. The guy is a freak and it was an honor to watch him close up the past two years. I don't know what Moss was like in Minnesota and Oakland because I didn't cover him then. However, he's been nothing but a class act since coming to the Patriots. He's actually one of the nicest guys I've come across.  He's extremely popular in the locker room and even jokes around and bullshits with practice squad players. Moss was nothing like I thought he would be when he came to New England.

--Hold on for this one: I heard from someone who is close to the case that there is a sex tape of Bill Belichick banging the married woman he had an affair with. I shit you not. The husband who is suing that woman for being unfaithful to him has a tape of his wife and Belichick screwing while the two of them were still married. Belichick is a very powerful man so I imagine he's doing everything in his power to squash this from getting out but it could only be a matter of time. A part of me doesn't want to see it but another part of me can't help but be intrigued.

--Belichick is the best, most well prepared coach on the planet. If you are a Patriots fan, you should love him regardless. However, he's a miserable person. I wish I could say otherwise but I can't. I've seen him on the road, I've flown on planes with him, I've stayed in the same hotels with him and I've seen him interact with others on numerous occasions. He's just miserable. There's no other way to put it. I don't even think most of his players like him, they just put up with him and do everything he says because he's such a great coach and they respect him. The guy may not be a great human being but there is no one else I would want coaching my football team. It doesn't surprise me that Jimmy Johnson and Belichick are close friends. I always trusted Johnson because I knew he would probably kill his mother to win a football game. Belichick is the same way, which makes him a great coach.

--Most of the players and coaches I've met in New England are great. Like any team, there are exceptions. A list of assholes would be Bruschi, Dillon, Willie McGinest, Pierre Woods, Mike Vrabel, Dan Koppen and Stephen Gostkowski. Yes, the kicker. Bruschi is by far the biggest and that seems to be a universal opinion. Sorry but it's true.

The list of good guys is much longer but my personal favorites were Harrison, Moss, Light, Jarvis Green, Deion Branch, David Givens, Ty Warren, Troy Brown, Vince Wilfork, Larry Izzo, Kelley Washington, Donte' Stallworth (A really funny bastard), Jabar Gaffney, Wes Welker and Rosevelt Colvin. I'm sure I left a few guys off that slipped my mind but the above players were always a class act during my time in New England.

That's the straight dope from my years with the Pats. I know some Patriots fans may not like what I had to say, especially about Bruschi and Belichick. But I swear on my life that everything I wrote is the truth and I didn't make anything up to degrade a particular person. As I stated before, no player or coach ever disrespected me in any way. I would have no reason to say things that are untrue. I don't benefit from that in any way. As Bill Belichick would say, "It is what it is." I just call 'em like I see 'em.

I hope you enjoyed a peak inside of one of the greatest NFL teams to ever take the field. I had one hell of a ride and I will never forget my time with the Patriots.

Dude who are you? You realize that if this is true you will be asked to tell this to some people who might really care like say Roger Goodell and or Arlin Spector? You say you worked for the Patriots, what did you do for them and if you no bones to pick why say this about spygate knowing it will be followed up on as soon as its gets around?

posted by steeltown12 on 07/29/2008 11:34 PM

Great insight Tommy... I have heard that about Bruschi also, but not first hand like you.  Must have been interesting working inside one of the best dynasties (as a Steelers fan I hate to admit that).  Is it cool to ask what your job was?

posted by Tommy Rider on 07/29/2008 11:42 PM

I was a sportswriter who worked for the team. I traveled with them, stayed at the same hotel and stuff like that. We couldn't report much but we know a lot going on with the team. The thing about Bruschi is very few people like him. The only ones that do are the fans and that's because he does a great job of being a fake. But his teammates don't buy his act. I'll give the guy credit, he's smart. You have to respect that.

If you believe people will eat up this drivel, good luck Tommy. For someone claiming to be a sports writer, your writing is pathetic and your grammar poor.

Keep grinding the axe sweetheart.

I'm surprised you decided to post this s**t-stirring here, rather than selling your "story" to a newspaper or publishing deal.

Sadly for you, there's nothing newsworthy here, apart from the Belichick sex-tape claims, and as a certain Mr. Walsh can tell you, without any evidence, no-one's going to believe you.

As for the Bruschi comments, ley off him. The guy had a stroke. He has no right to even be alive, let alone still be playing professional sports at the highest level. He's "unlikable"? I like him. I think he sets a superb example to the kids that look up to him. You personally may not have liked his personality, but that's ok... I'm sure there are plenty of people associated with the Pats who couldn't stand you either. Sometimes personalities clash, that's just reality. But you've gone beyond attacking his personality - your comments imply that he's somehow a bad person. And I can tell you, just from reading about all the charity work that he does, that he's far from being a bad person.

Tom Casale....errrr.....Tommy Rider, you are by far the most unprofessional writer on the planet.  Aren't you the same guy who was exposed on Patsfans.com for trashing one of it's posters because she was writing better training camp reports than you,  Like then, you don't have the balls to admit who you are.

Tommy, Tommy Tommy - you have just been exposed for the rat that you are. where are you facts, where is your proof??

You come across just like your buddy Matt Walsh, a disgruntled ex-employee.

Tell the truth now, you were let go from Patriots Football weekly and ended up on this gambling site because of your indescretions in Foxboro, not to mention your piss poor writing.

We all know how you hit on lady fans following the team and tried to cross gender by hitting on a certain rookie WR a few years ago.

Or what about the late night drinking and drug spells that led you to Patriot fan sites where you were outed with various screen names one of which was actual called "allisonlovesbrady", all so you could poke fun at the team and fans.

Admit it now, so everyone knows why you wrote what you wrote without one shred of fact.

Casale, I hope you are never going back to journalism because no one in the journalism community could actually take you seriously after this post and your previous actions on other message boards.  Then again is writing for the team's paper really classify you as a journalist?  No self respecting journalist would do what you do.  Posting rumors and innuendos on a website about your former employers is unprofessional for anyone, not just journalists.

Maybe some day you will grow up and realize what type of tool you are.  And I my post has nothing to do with the content of your information.  It has everything to do with the fact that you are posting the information at all in the forum that you are doing it.

posted by SlippyFist on 07/30/2008 5:18 AM

I can't believe you hit on a rook WR.  Now Randy I can see.  He's got bank!

By the way, this kind of jackass comment is the kind you should expect for writing this trash.  Hope your new employers are real proud of you.

Assuming you are real, which is a very large assumption, this kind of reporting is National Enquirer stuff, which makes you a gossip, not a journalist. It also makes you an ungrateful son-of-a-bitch.

As for your comments on Bruschi, I imagine that he didn't buy your line of shit and that you're getting even with him. I have a feeling that his take on you is more accurate than your take on him.

What you've done here is demonstrate your character, and frankly, it stinks. I pity those who think they have close relationships with you. As one of the TV judges says, "I wouldn't trust you if your tongue came notarized."

posted by Dominic on 07/30/2008 6:33 AM

Out the door for 2 seconds before you trash the organization. I didn't expect anything different. Lets take a look at some Casale highlights:

- Whilst in employment, you signed up to a message board, used 3 or 4 different usernames and trashed other media members, including a popular amateur journalist. You also insulted fans and crudely promoted your website and publication.

- You trashed Chad Jackson without saying why, which pissed off a lot of people. When you did indeed reveal what happened (a Chris Berman impression gone wrong), it became apparent you were making mountains out of molehills just wanting to have an exclusive story.

- And now, you've claimed Belichick has a sex tape and also wrote that the Patriots did indeed tape the Rams walkthrough and accused the NFL of a cover up (before it was removed for legal reasons no doubt). Do you not realize what shit the rest of PFW could be in? Did you learn nothing from Tomase?

I'm amazed you're still in employment.

Your writing is a joke and so are your prospects of success in the business. Maybe you can invent some more fake names and tell  your new employer how great you are before they send you packing, which won't take long.

Stew,

Tommy Rider is Tom Casale a former reporter from Patriots Football Weekly.  He has a long history of unprofessional behavior.  Last preseason, he posted posts under different profiles on Patsfans.com (a Patriots fan site) trashing and lobbing personal attacks at a fan named Mrs. B who attends training camp practices every day and writes reports on her blog.  Casale apparently was upset that she got more attention on the board than he and other professional writers.  He was exposed after denying it for the longest time.

He just left the Patriots.  He is now using rumors and innuendos and personal attacks which no legitimate news organization would allow him to write now that he is no longer with the Patriots.  I find it unprofessional and basically wrong.

posted by Rob on 07/30/2008 7:08 AM

altham,

Sorry, if I am wrong, but that is Tom Casale's MO.  He has a history of posing as other posters to validate his own posts.  If Casale grew up himself acted like a professional journalist when he was one, maybe I wouldn't be suspicious of anyone who actually likes what he wrote.

This is Tom's personal blog, so Pregame.com has no control over his posts (or even see them before they are posted) . . . but it seems to me that it's hard to say someone is wrong about an opinion (e.g., Player A is disliked) - and conerning the facts stated: if they are true, it seems valid to report on them.

Well, well, well. I see my friends at the Patriots message board got a hold of this blog. Listen, this is my house. This isn't Patriots.com. Here I can say what I want and if you don't like it, too bad. Your hero is an asshole. By the way, how many 31-year old guys have strokes? Let's see: Bruschi sucked, got good, then has sucked again since his stroke. Wow, what could make that happen? You know, because 31-year olds are always dropping dead of a bad heart. Hey, I gave my thoughts on what happened during my time with the Pats and I stand by everything I said. If you don't want to believe it, that's your choice. Good day and keep the comments coming. We love all the traffic. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the season.

posted by Rob on 07/30/2008 9:33 AM

I couldn't care less about the content of Casale's article.  Who cares if Bruschi is not the great guy he portrays in public or if Belichick is just as grumpy behind the scenes as he is in front of the camera?  All I care about is wins and losses.

The tabloid gossip crap deserves to be on a tabloid gossip site.    It is none of my business what goes on in other people's bedrooms.  If Belichick did in fact have an affair with a married woman, he has to deal with it with his conscious and with his family.  If I cared about people having affairs, I wouldn't watch a lot of TV or movies or sporting events.

I just think Casale is very unprofessional with a long list of examples of classlessness.  No respecting journalist would right crap like this.  That is probably why Casale is writing under the name of Tommy Rider on a gambling site rather than ESPN or Sports Illustrator or even the Boston Globe or another newspaper.

It's not his "opinion" that riles a fanbase up.  It's the accusations.  "Bruschi is a jerk" is an opinion that anyone can live with.  "There is a sex tape and a walkthrough happened" is an accusation and he better be able to back it up.  He's already erased some of the accusations which should give you a clue.

I don't care if it was positive or negative.  The content is irrelevent.  The fact that you call yourself a journalist (or at least used to) and post this type of information is mind boggling.  None of the content phases me.  The fact you throw around baseless accusations with apparent agenda does.  These accusations will go nowhere though.

Hey Casale,

You took a question of mine once at Ask PFW and you always seemed reasonable in your responses so I'm surprised and disappointed to read the venom you've spewed here.

Still, I could care less whether or not you like Bruschi or he likes you. Regardless of your opinion about specific players, what you wrote here is unprofessional. Slandering a former boss on the way out the door is cowardly. If you've got a problem with the organization or the players, say something while you're there. Either confront the problem or shut up and take it. But to slam then when you're quitting (or were fired or whatever) is just gutless.

And your accusations about the walk-thru tape are silly. If you had substantial information about that, you wouldn't be making threats to faceless posters on your blog. You'd be selling your story to a publisher for seven figures. Hell, if you have an actual story, you can e-mail me and I'll walk you in to a publisher who'll pay you for it. But you don't, so why pretend by threatening to call Arlen Spector? It just makes you sound silly. That's why you had to pull it from the post, isn't it? Because you know you'd get sued and you really can't back up your claim.

And confidential to GoodFella and coleslaw, feel free to talk shit about the Patriots. The Giants are now 3-time Super Bowl champs. Pats fans around the world welcome you to the club. But just remember that two of your rings were due almost entirely to your favorite coach, Bill Belicheat. Because if you really think he was cheating as the Pats coach, you have to know he was doing it back then, too, right? So feel free to forfeit those first two Giants rings any time, now. We'll be here waiting...

Well, let's just clarify, so there are no misunderstandings here. My nerves haven't been touched. I'm a fan of one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports. 3 Super Bowl victories this decade and the first 16-0 regular season in history, plus a QB with the highest winning percentage ever. As a Pats fan, I'm feeling pretty good right about now, regardless of how last season ended.

And for the record, my second-rate city has six championships this decade compared to how many for yours? Um, one? Congratulations. Really, that's great. Your teams have done the five boroughs proud.

Tom, you have just gone too far with this sex tape thing.  Now I have a visual in my head worse than when Dennis Franz showed his fat ass on NYPD Blue.  Thanks!

On a somewhat serious note, are you just a little worried about the effect this might have on the guys back at PFWIP?  Especially Fred.  Is there a chance that now that you've napalmed Belichick and Bruschi, and you boast of having contacts throughout the league, Kraft and BB might just surmise that your contacts in New England would be the PFW crew and might decide to put a lid on them once and for all?

I just think it might put those guys in a difficult position and as a fan of the magazine and the show I think it would be a shame if this was the way it ended for Fred, Paul, Andy and yes, even Erik ( I don't know much about Parente yet).  They seem like pretty good guys who have a lot of fans and it would be a shame if, like we talked about the other night, Kraft finally became aware of what the hell was going in that little studio and decided to shut it down.

I hope everything works out for you but I also hope the boys don't have to suffer the consequences of your post.

Bottom line is these guys are paid millions to play a little kid's game.

Grown men wear another man's name on his back because they are good at a little kid's game.

Most if not all of the beloved Patriots would jump ship for more money or to a winning team if NE started to suck. As would almost any athlete on another team.

Mind you, I love the Pats and Brady (was at the Orange Bowl when he was a superstar vs Alabama), but people act like these players and coaches would borrow you money if your house was about to get foreclosed on.

Or maybe, I am just bitter because I am Detroit Lion's season ticket holder????

Stew,

You sound like and idiot. It's amazing that bitter fans of inferior teams continue to throw around the term "cheating". I'm not going to spend time parsing the term cheating. Suffice to say that people who actually know anything about football -- players, coaches, agents, etc. -- don't waste time saying the Pats cheated because they know the difference between breaking rules and cheating.

Second, statistically, the Patriots since 2001 are one of the greatest dynasties in football. That's a fact. Highest winning percentage, longest win streaks, etc. plus their three championships make them one of the best all time. 50 touchdowns for Brady. 23 for Moss. These are facts. You can resent them, but you can't dispute them. And if you claim that they cheated their way to 16-0, well, then you just sound ignorant.

You may not like the Pats. But you can't deny the numbers.

As I said, the Giants won their third Super Bowl last season. Congratulations. Welcome to the 3-ring club.

GoodFella,

First off, it was 17-14. Get your facts straight.

And that old saw that the season is meaningless is they don't win the Super Bowl is silly. Someone wins the Super Bowl every year. Even Trent Dilfer's done it. But no one has EVER gone 16-0 before and it'll be a long time before someone does it again.

So stop throwing around that silly party line about the regular season being meaningless. Yes, it's meaningless when you go 14-2 and don't win the championship. But with 3 rings in the bank, I'm pretty sure that everyone on the team last yaer was happy to enter the record books as the first perfect 16-0 season in history.

This is, indeed, Tom Casale.  I worked with him for 2 years and he was universally disliked around the office.  We all wondered from the very start what Fred saw in him and why he was given such a long rope after his indiscretions online.  The patsfans ordeal was surreal.  He used multiple aliases to, among other things, denigrate his colleagues that he worked closest with.

It's fine.  I don't think anyone cares what he says now.  We are all just happy he's not in the office anymore spreading his toxic energy.  I mean, hell, if the best revenge is living well I think Tom has a long way to go.  He was a bad hire that we stuck with for too long and now he's gone.

The other piece of delicious irony here is that he's being paid to make NFL picks for people to base wagers on.  Anyone who listened and read his work while with the PFW team knows that is not a good idea.  One of his main gimmicks was talking about why he stopped gambling professionally.  He'd say it all the time.  That's not the ace i want up my sleeve when trying to outsmart the oddmakers.  He's a fantasy football writer playing pretend.  Just keep that in mind when you read his "analysis" from his stained couch while his poor wife sobs alone in the kitchen.

Btw, I have alot more bullets in the gun.  I haven't even mentioned the events surrounding his dismissal.  It's very embarrassing.  You can probably imagine when you consider how much they put up with him prior to firing him.

I love the irony of the post assigning Tom's opinions of who is "classy".  That's great.  I am just curious about how the stuff he is writing adheres to the employment agreement that he signed.  It's a contract, after all.  Signing it and then violating the contents of it is all class.

No, you don't pay to post, but you pay for their picks.  This is the height of idiocy.  Who do you think the guys are that are giving you their "expert" analysis?  Seriously, if this guy's picks from his time with PFW (I am a Seahawks fan living in NE, btw) are still available, please take a look at them.  Do you think he has any "system" other then to write tough guy articles with false confidence to get you to pay him (with your credit card via a site that let's posters duplicate user names for flame wars)?  If your going to gamble and win against the Book you need to be smart.  Using a scam operation like this is dumb.  And will be costly.

I didn't have time to read ALL of the comments,  but I'm surprised.   I thought Packers fans were the biggest assholes... turns out it's the Patriots fans.

I've always thought Bruschi was fake,  seeing him visiting a kid with cancer on ESPN just irritated me,  because I knew it was just an image boosting thing.    As for Randy Moss, when he was in MN, he was not good with the fans,  I don't know about how he was with the players,  but during his rookie year I was at a game in December when they beat Jacksonville 50-10,   my friends and I were dressed as Vikings,  helmets, shields, etc.   and happened to be walking by the locker room exit as the players were leaving.  The security guys had it roped off so we had to wait until the players left.  Moss came out, and there were maybe 2 dozen fans,  we were cheering and stuff, pumped up after the victory,  but Moss wouldn't even look at anyone,  he walked out with his head down, wearing a hood covering his head, so nobody could see him or get a picture.     Gary Anderson was cool though,  he high-5'ed my friend,  and had a smile on his face as he was walking out.

I don't think anyone wants to see the Belichick Sex tape.  I'll put that one on the list right above a Roseanne Arnold sex tape.   We just don't need to see that kind of thing.

posted by stoooooopid on 07/30/2008 3:44 PM

There may be a tape of Belichick with a woman that was used during the divorce, but it sure as hell isn't a sex tape. Maybe a dinner tape.  This is foolish and the writer is a clown's moron.   I love how he brags about the attention (hits).  Yeah, this is the type of business model that is definitely sustaining.

This guy will be somewhere else in under 1 year.  If they will hire him.

I actually agree with almost everything you said. This is coming from a Pats fan too. I've noticed all the little things about Mike Vrabel and Wille McGinest through T.V. interviews, radio interviews, and autograph sessions. Stephen Gostkowski appears to be an arrogant, in love with himself character who feels bad for himself because he's only recognized as a kicker in the NFL when really he's a decent baseball athlete. Corey Dillon? Pffft, look who he is. Big nosed, meat head, douche bag. He fits the description you pointed out perfectly. Pierre Woods? I don't know enough about him. Tedy Bruschi? Now that you mention it I can actually picture the scenario but it's still kind of hard for me to believe. Dan Koppen I don't know enough about either aside from the fact that he likes to drink a lot and hunt in the wilderness. I'll take your word for it though.

Between the sex tape and Spygate report you got into, I'm sure the organization did have some involvement with the St. Louis Rams and with a couple of other teams as well. It comes as no surprise though. I don't think it should demerit anything they accomplished. Every team is authorized to do it, I'm sure of it. But the porno? Whoa there, you 100% positive that the guys on the team weren't just kidding around with you or something? Sounds odd. But then again... he is a rocker haha.

Overall, thanks for this. It confirms some of my secret beliefs I thought I only felt. If you are ever looking for an intern of some sort let me know. If you have an e-mail available and you wouldn't mind me sending you some of my stuff, [I trust that you will not want to use any of my writing], then please fill me in.

From Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal posted on Patsfans.com:

"Hey all --

I'm going to try not to give my opinion on this too much, just wanted to share with a few things:

The Pats definitely know about this; one of the PFW writers told me about it after practice today and they were just floored at what he had done. Here's the thing (one of the things) he forgot when he did this: he has likely put Paul Perillo, Andy Hart, Erik Scalavino and now Mike Parente's jobs in jeopardy. Regardless of what you think of them, they don't deserve to lose their jobs because of what Casale did. Belichick is going to be none too happy to have that information out there, and he could very well go to Bob Kraft and say they can't fly on the team plane anymore. So then Kraft has to decide if he wants the extra expense of flying the PFW staff separately all the time, and possibly having them stay in a different hotel all the time. PFW does turn a profit currently, but having to buy (at a minimum) five round-trip plane tickets for every road game will get costly quickly...

I haven't heard of *anyone* who works in the PFW office or interacts with that group that isn't happy to have Casale gone. He really was a toxic presence and not at all a nice guy. Personally, I didn't like him at all and think that his little post is quite possibly one of the most classless things I've ever seen.

And for what it's worth, Tedy has always been nice to me. Can he be moody sometimes? Of course. But if I had people asking me the same questions over and over again I would be too at times. I also had a good relationship with Corey Dillon...

smy"

So apparently Tom, you were the Tedy Bruschi of the Boston Sports Media.  No wonder why you have a bug up your ass for Bruschi.  You were exactly how you described Bruschi to be.

posted by patfan45 on 07/30/2008 9:14 PM

I don't believe everything tom has said but he did interact with these players far more regularly then any fan did. Can anybody proove that these accusations are way off? I as a patriots fan have met some of these players and they were jerks, Corey Dillon and Mike Vrabel especially.

I don't care how any of these players act as long as the effects aren't seen in the win column

And to all the pats haters and non pat fans pease don't believe all new england fans are just blind homers.

And the threats to Tom are ridicoulus, grow-up!!! He was voicing his opinions and last time I checked the bill of rights allows that, unless belichick rewrote it.

Those are some mind bending insights after 4 years covering the team and traveling with them every game.  It sounded like 3 recesses.

The real question is:  why is this guy getting paid to sell you information?  Is it because he's a great gambler that has a proven system for winning more then losing or is it because he's just spent the last 4 years sniffing jocks for a football team with their silly little team paper?

As far as I can tell, Tom-Tommy Casale-Rider has the following qualifications as a professional handicapper:

- gambled on games

- wrote fantasy football columns

- has gone bankrupt

- has quit gambling and to write football columns for a team website for 4 years

- quits and takes 23 hours before he completely blows up every bridge on the way out

So despite having no system or real philosophy other than gossip and message board type bravado, Tom -Tommy Casale-Rider NOW is going to turn into a guru of beating the book?  Really?  The bankrupt guy with a drug history and no friends in the business who wrote for the team's website?

His secret?  He's going to work REALLY hard for you!  He's going to stay up really late looking at magazines searching for and EDGE!

Poor guy doesn't know what he's looking for.  You can't will yourself to be smarter.  Or to be a good bettor.  This is a sideshow gimmick to gain publiciy the guy isn't picking games on merit.

Its pretty humorous these people on here responding who are actually subscribers or involved in this site for its content. Let me get this straight, you PAY for advice from guys like Tom Casale? Really? For GAMBLING advice? That is pathetic. You rubes on this site are idiots.

But the fact is, this incident has nothing to do with the Patriots. Nothing at all. What Patriots fans are commenting about is one Tom Casale. Someone they are familiar with. Who cares what he said? He said some bad things, he said some good things. I really don't care what his opinion is of Tedy Bruschi or anything else. That isn't the point.

This incident is solely about Tom Casale, his behavior and his exhibited character. Honestly, the owner of this little site, BJ Bell, or whatever posts defending this guy? Think about it BJ, the guy hasn't drawn even paycheck one from you yet and he is classlessly blasting his past employer barely out the door. This is the guy you want working for you BJ? You want the guy who admitted going bankrupt gambling dispensing gambling advice to your paying customers? This is the regard you hold your customers? The guy admitted going BANKRUPT due to gambling. He is now exhibiting loose cannon behavior regarding his past employer (behavior he has exhibited before in his time there).

Don't you realize, BJ, that YOU are next. You and your fledgling little site will be next in his crossairs. And you defend him now? Think about it BJ, what happens if old Tommy (Fill in New Last Name Here) gets all pissed off at the Christmas Party at the Golden Nugget (assuming you can even afford old Vegas) because he doesn't win capper of the year (an award that goes to the pregame.com picker with the 44% pick rate)? Then he splits from the party (with pockets full of "complimentary" finger sandwiches in toe) and assuming he doesn't pick up a DUI on the way home or get mowed down by his drug dealer who he stops by to see, he starts creating sock puppets to blast YOU BJ and your little site? Maybe he claims your a pedophile. Or something else outrageous.

Think about it BJ. The man is obviously unhinged. And you are gonna have him on your staff? Why? To give advice for the quickest route to bankruptcy to your customers and, perhaps, friends?

Save yourself the trouble BJ. Investigate this guy's past a bit more. Consider his class and deranged behavior on the way out the door with the Patriots and save yourself the trouble. Cut him loose now, because if you don't, you'll be next. Think about it.

Hello everyone! I am a female Patriots fan who mainly roots for the team because of Tom Brady. lol I don't know that much about football so I've come here the past couple of months to read your opinions on the team. I don't know who Casale is and I hate to say it but I don't really know the player you are talking about either. The reason for my post is because I know people who were at that event. My parents have friends who are pretty well off and they go every year and tell us about it. This year they said a player came in talking loud and said something to the regards of "look at all the white women" or "where are the all the white women?" something like that. They said someone in a suit then pulled that player aside and talked to him and he was fine until he tried to make a joke but no one laughed. lol Anyway, if that was the player you are all talking about, maybe that's why the person didn't say what he heard. I don't know this writer but could he be protecting him? I don't know. Please don't scream and yell at me. I'm not a poster I just thought reading this thread that this story might help clear up some things but again, they didn't know the player who said that and neither do I. Go Brady!

The people who went are friends of my parents. They are like 50 years old and loaded. I don't even think they watch football, they just go so they can say they were there. You know the type probably. When I said I didn't "know" Jackson I meant I don't know what he looks like because I've never seen him play. They said a young man was there being kind of loud and he said that one remark and someone in a suit had a word with him. That's all. I don't ever remember seeing you all talk about the charity event before. I should say that I'm not on this board everyday and i don't read all the posts. I thought this may be helpful in some way. If it is, I'm glad and if it isn't, I'm sorry I brought it up. I don't even know if the player they're talking about is Jackson. I'm just telling you what was told to me.

Seriously though, none of these Pats fans even know these players other than what they see from them on TV or at training camps, of course they are going to be nice at that point.

If Bruschi's a dick, Bruschi's a dick. Don't get pissed at Rider for pointing it out, get mad at Bruschi.

posted by Accountability on 07/31/2008 8:21 AM

You are free to state your opinion, but this is just stupid. Brushi never had a stroke? Yea, ok. Like there aren't doctors and physical therapists who can support that. Who cares if he's a jerk? I met him for the first time at a wedding. He was on of  the only Patriots there who DIDN'T come off as a jerk.  You'll talk to Arlen Specther? Do it and stop talking about it.

Saying you have been on a plane or in hotels with Belichick is rediculous. On a plane, you are in a different compartment/room entirely. In the hotel, it's not like you're sharing a room or even a FLOOR with the guy. He wouldn't even say hi to you if he passed you in the lobby.

And now you're a gambling expert? God help the people who take your advice.

You're a moron.

I can care less what you say regarding the player's personalities but I do take offense to your comments about Bruschi's stroke.  I have never heard more dimwhitted comments.  How can you sit there and question a stroke.  A stroke is a stroke no matter what way you look at it.  It is a serious problem.  As a matter of fact, I knew a 24 year old girl that died from a stroke.  You are a complete A-hole and glad you got fired from the Patriots.  Jackass.

posted by s on 07/31/2008 8:27 AM

what really confuses me is you actually did say a good amount of good things about the Pats.

You really only said that Dillon was a miserable ass (totally believable), that Belichick was miserable (completely and utterly believable), and that Bruschi was an ass (as a Pats fan, I can say I wouldn't have thought so, but whatever). So I fail to see what the big deal was.

And he is not saying that Bruschi's stroke never happened, he is saying that it is probably related to steroids. Yeah its not unheard of for people younger than him to have heart attacks or whatever while playing sports. But he was at home in his bedroom. Open your eyes.

Lets also realize that Cory Dillon probably honed his personality and people skills while living in Cincinnati.

And are you smart enough to figure out what this incident really represents? It has ZERO to do with the Patriots. Here, try this. Substitute all the references to the Patriots for "Corporation X". Then take all the names and substitute the players names for names like "Jack Jones" and "Bill Smith" Forget the Patriots.

Now consider Tom Casale's conduct. Consider how he is acting as a disgruntled ex-employee. Consider that the man has become unhinged, as he has done in the past. And look into his conduct.

And if you can't do that because you are distracted thinking we're just defending "The Patriots" you morons deserve to blow money on this site and go bankrupt. Just like Tommy Rider/Casale did.

Have fun wasting your lives if you aren't smart enough to figure out the issue here.

And I think they all cheat.  I think the Sox steal signs, I think the Celtics put flubbber on the bottom of their shoes to jump higher, and I believe the Pats tape all their opponents, then disect that video during a timeout, and use it against them.  Oh...you think they use the tapes the NEXT time they play??  Well, the NY coaches are dumber than HS coaches because when I coached HS ball, we changed signals up every week.

I love it...am I stirring you dopes up?  Seriously seeing your favorite football team win 3 titles, your favorite baseball team 2 World Series, and the C's annihilate the Fakers like that over a 7 year period has provided me and many other Bostonians with memories that you jealous envious pricks will NEVER experience.

Bravo can't spell degenerate. Teenage Asian Porn is awesome and I'd like to Bang off on your face. Patriot fans are made up of 13 year-olds, chicks, or dudes that still live with their parents like Bravo. Tell your mommy I'm can't make it for dinner tonight because I'll be banging your dad.

"I know a 31 year old who had a stroke.... and he was just a normal guy.  Actually... he was a little out of shape.  So that counters what you're implying about Bruschi and whatever you think he was taking. "

Was his head the size of a watermelon like Bruschi's?

Your writing is pathetic- even for a gossip columnist. Are you retiring to cover the latest Brittany Spears scandal? Seems that will be more your style. You should clarify that your points are not fact- they are opinion. When you say Dillon is an asshole, please clarify by adding 'to me'. And if I ever met you, I would be a piece of shit asshole TO YOU as well. Good luck at the tabloids. You're well suited for it.

Yeah, you Boston losers!  You just wait, we'll win our own Championships someday.

Excellent point about Evil Bill's teams yielding 54 4th quarter points.  Who cares that they were 3-1 in those games, they probably cheated.
