96 DAYS UNTIL FOOTBALL KICKS OFF: NFC Undrafted Free Agent Signings

by Tommy Rider on 04/29/2008 11:40 AM

OBJECTIVE: Each day leading up to the start of the 2008 NFL season with the first preaseason game on August 3rd between the Colts & Redskins, we will start a thread with a lead story concerning pro football.  The NFL season never ends, and there are several of you who have already contributed stories on a daily basis.  The purpose of this thread is to give our Forum Members one place where they can get all of the latest news and rumors EVERY day.

YOUR ROLE: We encourage everybody to add to this thread with anything you find that's noteworthy in the NFL.

Tommy Rider's bio: Tommy Rider works in the football industry and talks to many people around the NFL. While he can't name his sources, Tommy has agreed to share with the Pregame community some of the information he obtains during the offseason. Some of the stuff he gets will be exclusive to the Pregame members, who will have the luxury of reading news here before it hits the mainstream media. He will also pass along any "rumors" that come his way. Just remember, if you disagree with any information he provides, it's not coming from him personally, it's coming from other sources, so don't shoot the messenger.

They are saying that Nick Hill is the next Tony Romo in Chicago LOL

Matty,

I have nothing for you on that one. I wouldn't know Nick Hill if he fell on me.

If you did, that would scare me.

"My friends from Eastern Illinois told me what special qualities and abilities Tony Romo had while he was there, and a lot of them feel Nick Hill is a carbon copy," new Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill told me Monday morning after the Bears signed the quarterback he coached at SIU.

"I've seen him and Joe Flacco, a kid I love, on the same field together and they've got quite a bit in common," Kill said. "I'll tell you something I feel with all my heart: Nick Hill's got a future in this game."

Brandon Sumrall  (Cornerback signed by the Vikings) from Southern Miss has a Good chance to catch on  with a NFL Club.

Chuck,

Great call. I love that guy. I can't believe no one drafted him. I loved Sumrall when I watched him play this season and gave him a fifth round grade after seeing him on tape. He plays corner and safety and looks like he would be a beast on special teams. I think teams really missed the boat on him.
