Handicapping the NBA Injury Report - Wednesday 4-30-08

by Rocky Atkinson on 04/30/2008 12:59 PM

Every day I look at the NBA injury report.  I start off with the first team and see who is listed on the report.  These are the average number of points these teams will be without tonight.

HERE IS MY TABLE FOR CALCULATING INJURIES:

OUT:  Take players average points per game and multiply by 1
DOUBTFUL:  Take players average points per game and multiply by .75
QUESTIONABLE:  Take players average points per game and multiply by .50
PROBABLE:  Take players average points per game and multiply by .25

Here are the results for tonight's NBA matchups.

Atlanta -0
Boston -1.8

Washington -0
Cleveland -8.4

Hope this helps out some.  This is 29-16 64% the past 45 where we have a differential of 20 or more and the trends add up to leaning to that same team.  It takes a little time to do this every day but it pays off in the end!

No games for Wednesday fit the 20 point differential and the trend analysis I use.

Thanks and best of luck,

Rocky Atkinson

Hey Rocky, what else do you look at if injuries are not a factor like in tonight's games?

I use 6 sets of my own power ratings for the NBA.  That is my main ingredient for handicapping the NBA.   I also look at the trends which keep me on a game possibly making it stronger or take me off.

Cool, thanks for the input.  Could you provide some of your systems in a blog entry if the injuries are not a factor?

I think it's great to give others a good idea how you cap games.
