Interesting MLB Props at the new M Resort in Las Vegas

Sorry I haven't been around much lately guys, but I got to see the White Sox sweep the Cubs in two games here in Vegas on Wednesday and Thursday and have been trying to get a good handle on college basketball heading into the major conference tournaments this week.

We just finished off our sixth profitable weekend in hoops over the last seven thanks to a Triple Dime winner on Michigan State as my Big Ten Game O' the Year earlier today.  Unfortunately, I lost my Big East Game O' the Year Saturday on Marquette, but at least that means my alma mater Syracuse is now a lock to get into the Big Dance for the first time in three years.  I'll have my conference tourney package up shortly.

I also got to check out the new M Resort on Saturday and was very impressed.  They have a bar right next to the sportsbook that has 96 beers on tap and the Vig Deli has all kinds of historical sports scores and spreads etched into the walls.  It's really a must-see casino, and I will no doubt be spending a lot of time there over the next few weeks.  They also offer wireless mobile gaming in the sportsbook where you can bet from your chair on a number of games like video poker and slots in addition to sports.

Anyway, I wanted to share some interesting baseball props at the M Resort for the upcoming season to let you know what's out there and see what you think...

Yeah, I love the OVER for Teixeira and Pujols personally, but you gotta wonder if the ball will stay in the park more with all of the steroids talk in the offseason...

If the A-Rod over under on home runs is still there, hammer the under.  I liked the under when it was 48.5 home runs for the season.  I still like under 46.5.  I think Howard wins it with 44-45 home runs but the years of 60-70 per season are over.

I like Lincicum under 15.5 wins.  If he played on a team that can score more than a run a game, he is a 22 game winner but not in SF.  I think he has another very very solid season but finished with 14-15 wins as SF just blows it for him.

I like Hamels over 14.5 wins.  15 wins is very realistic for him.  I see him getting 18 wins.  He is a stud.

And I love under 17.5 loses for the pitcher prop.  Pinnacle has it at 18.5 with the under at -200.  I like 18.5 much better even if it means laying down twice as much.  Losing 19 games is just as tough as winning 19 in my opinion if not harder

I think Pujols, Texiera & Hanley are the 3 best bets for HR's. Barring injury 2 of those 3 should cash for sure......but ya, times have changed for the GREAT game of baseball, and for the BETTER!

Careful with Dunn Chad..... he is playing in a MUCH bigger park now & he is good for 130 walks...(this assuming he will be healthy)

Sounds like you should be planning a Vegas trip Bonds - the M Resort is the first real casino you'll see coming from SoCal.

Good stuff Matty, You think any of the pitchers listed go over 17 wins?

posted by Matty O'Shea on 03/09/2009 7:57 PM

Webb and Halladay will always have a shot cuz they're such horses.  I like Hamels though OVER 14.5.

I will definitely take Hamels if the books I use offer it.  He is an absolute stud, and I am not just saying that cause I am from Philly and a homer.  He would have had 20 wins last season if he had run support in the regular season.

The Cubs not winning the world series is a no brainer if you are willing to risk 11-1.  The yankees not winning it at -500 is a steal if you are willing to lay 5-1.  I said it before they signed everyone offseason and will say it again, THEY WILL MISS THE PLAYOFFS.  This team will fall apart.

I sure hope you're right about the Spankees.

Superb blog.  Lots of great info.  And I love the Big East bet!!  Thnx man.

As for the MLB props, take this one:  Under 14.5 wins for Jake Peavy.  I live in SD, and the Padres will be the worst team in baseball by a mile this year.  They have thrown in the towel!  Remember, they tried trading Peavy this winter. Peavy is good, but not great, plus he is already pitching meaningful games in the World Baseball Classic now, no way he can go all year dominating, injury free.  This is a LOCK!!!  I will be in Vegas in two weeks betting big on this prop.  Lock!
