Let me set the scene by getting into the DeLorean and going back in time 14 years ago to the day. The Pittsburgh Steelers had just lost Super Bowl XXX to the Dallas Cowboys 27-17 in a game they could have easily won had it not been for Neil O'Donnell's three interceptions.
The year before in Kansas City, the Chiefs had earned what remains their last playoff victory with Hall of Famer and Pittsburgh native Joe Montana under center. Montana ultimately retired, although that is not how he wanted his NFL career to end.
Montana wanted to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they didn't want him. They wanted O'Donnell. Can you imagine Montana leading the Steelers against the Cowboys in the big game and then riding off into the sunset?
I realize this is one of those "what-if" scenarios in which we'll obviously never know what could have been, but consider this: Montana would have been almost the same age as Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner is now if he had played with the Steelers then.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this interview Montana did with Dan Patrick this morning and was curious what RJ and Marco think as their team prepares to win a record sixth Super Bowl title this Sunday. There is also a great interview with Falcons rookie QB Matt Ryan, who finds out for the first time that the Cardinals knew the snap count when they met in their Wild Card playoff game en route to the Super Bowl.
