Matty's Musings for 11/17/08: Send Donovan McNabb back to Syracuse

I still can't believe that Eagles QB Donovan McNabb didn't know there was such a thing as a tie in the NFL Stick out tongue

"I've never been a part of a tie. I never even knew that was in the rule book," McNabb said after the game. "It's part of the rules, and we have to go with it. I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game. But unfortunately, with the rules, we settled with a tie."

Some of you have already talked about this on the Forums, and I think there is only one solution: Send him back to the 'Cuse.  With Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson getting fired on Sunday, there is an immediate opening.  The Eagles will reportedly save $9 million in 2009 by cutting him loose, so why not send him back to school?

After all, the Orange football program has not been the same since he left, and I believe he's already done everything he can in the NFL.  Plus, I think he can still learn a thing or two in college Geeked

What, you think the Orangemen need to get slower?  In more ways than one...

And Greg Robinson is Einstein?  McNabb would get recruits to play for him, and that's all I really care about LOL

Nah GF, i had the luxury of watching that press conference live after the game...I was honestly enraged by his stupidity.  Ive defended mcNabb for years, but no longer.

I will still defend him as the head coach at Syracuse LOL

Good stuff Matty.  It's tough when you can't defend your own guys because what they did/say really was that dumb.  Reminds me of a few years when I had to deal with Carmelo Anthony jokes all week because he was manslapping dudes in a weak brawl at the garden vs. the knicks.  I haven't heard anything solid on the new coach except you can eliminate Kiffin from the equation.  I still hope its Turner Gil.  On more important issues, nice article with the pic from the 'cuse hoops preview.  My question is what is up with the odds for the '09 ncaa championship?  I saw 'cuse at 25 to 1 but other teams like Nova and Marquette (picked higher in the league) were in the 40 to 50-1 range.  Is it a public perception thing?  Thanks.  Hopefully we get a full effort tonight against the spiders.  Go Cuse!

I definitely think it's a public perception thing - I love Louisville at 15/1 and won $1,000 on Syracuse at 50/1 back in 2003.  Ever since then, they probably are a bit more cautious...

I just read on ESPN, that Big Ben of PITTS is backing up McNabb on this one.  Even Hines Ward didn't know that games till end at a tie.  He thought that rule was changed when pitts and ATL had a tie the last time this happen.  It was also stated that more than 50 NFL players didn't even know this rule.  I would end this rule, I think this rule is stupid.  Should be no ties in the NFL.

Dumb rule no doubt - but you gotta know the rules of the game you play for a living.

Yeah that's true matty, but I don't think this should be a big deal as its made out to be.  I bet half the world don't know all the rules and policies about there occupations.

This is something I expected someone like Ryan Leaf, or Mike Vick to not have known..........NOT McNabb.
