Kudos to Tom Crean, who
left a very talented Marquette team to replace the departed Kelvin Sampson as head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers. Crean was a guest on
The Dan Patrick Show this morning and talked about how he was looking forward to resurrecting one of the nation's best college basketball programs despite the fact that he lost nearly the entire roster from a year ago after
Sampson was dismissed as a repeat offender of NCAA rules prohibiting phone contact with recruits.
There is no doubt that Crean is an outstanding coach and will have this program competitive again and possibly among the nation's elite within a few years. Just listening to him talk about how a member of the baseball team will be playing basketball now because he won a 3-point shooting contest between the teams and shot better from long range than any of his current players really puts his challenge in perspective.
Crean was also quoted as saying "we're going to be our own reality show" due to all of the trials and tribulations this team is destined to endure throughout the season.
"If we don't smile and enjoy it a little bit," he said, "it's going to be a very disheartening experience."
Best of luck Tom. We'll be betting on and against you with our
college basketball picks this season
