Beating Preseason Football - You Can Bet on it!

Beating Preseason Football - You Can Bet on it!

Many people believe you have to be a total degenerate to bet on Preseason Football. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Preseason can be beat if you understand what Preseason Football is all about. Forget trying to handicap Preseason Football like a regular season game. Don't get overly excited about offensive and defensive stats because that doesn't apply in my Handicapping when it comes to Preseason Games.

Here's the first and most important factor when it comes to beating Preseason Football. These games don't mean a thing that's why they are called exhibition games. Understand that more importantly you are handicapping agendas instead of team strengths and weaknesses. Every week the coaching staff has an agenda  that they want to accomplish for that week. It can be looking at certain young players in key situations. It can be working on a new blocking scheme for the offensive line. Maybe last weeks preseason game the coach wasn't happy with the running game and the Coach is making a concerted emphasis on the running game this week. This is important information that can not only dictate the point spread winner but have a major impact on the total.

This kind of information is out there if you do your homework and have key contacts   as the coaches are pretty open about what they are doing in the preseason. The key is understanding what's pertinent and what's fluff.

It's important to understand what a new coaching staff will mean to a team. Is the new coach eager to come out of the gate and establish momentum by going all out to win in the Preseason. Some coaches couldn't care less about winning. One of the best coaches in the NFL was Marv Levy and he always sucked in the Preseason because he didn't care about winning meaningless games but used these games to have his teams prepared when it counted. Knowledge is Power and when you combine Knowledge with Experience you can beat Preseason Football.

Last Season I enjoyed another great Preseason as I released only 11 Preseason Plays and Won 10 of them. So yes Preseason Football can be beat. Will I go 10-1 again this year? Who knows but I do know with discipline and information I will show a profit once again.  Check out my 2008 NFL Preseason Package

It's weird Marco, but I've been called a degenerate for years.....of course, the first time it happened I was busted as a senior in high school for "bookmaking" and couldn't graduate val/sal so I "walked" as #3 in my class.......and I have ALWAYS thought pre-season was a fairly easy place to "play" if you understand the agenda of the teams......great blog post.  Good luck this year......I hope to be on Pregame's team for the Hilton contest!!

I agree Marco, spot playing the NFL pre-season can be profitable.

I agree as well, and having some experience handicapping and betting is a HUGE plus in preseason action.  I have gotten better every year, through experience.  Marco brings up some great points here that should be taken to heart.

At worst you can break even just by focusing on decent sized underdogs during the preseason.
