Houston Rockets @ Dallas Mavericks
For this game we
have two possible scenarios: in both of them the Rockets naturally have
some motivation as they seek home court advantage through the playoffs
so the question is related with the Mavericks' expectations. If you
believe that they don't care about this game then the current line for
this game is correct but if you believe that the Mavericks will bring
their best effort to the effort there's no way they should be underdogs
at home in this game!
I can't imagine the Mavericks to be sloppy tonight. I understand
that they can't reach the homecourt advantage (they will be the 6th or
7th seed) but there is something called "momentum" and the Mavs surely
want to carry this momentum to the playoffs. In the last home games the
Mavs spanked the Suns, Jazz and the Hornets by a combined 62 points!
Last game they went into trouble vs Minnesota but I remember that it
was a tired back to back game as they played in New Orleans in the
previous night. With a win, the Mavs reach a ninth consecutive 50-win
season! Also, if they lose this game the most likely scenario is a
playoff matchup between these two teams and the Mavs don't want to give
the momentum to the Rockets.
The Rockets meanwhile is in 5-game winning streak and they are
coming from an impressive win at home against the Hornets. However
playing on the road it's another story. Do want to know the last 3 road
games of the Rockets vs top teams? Well, they lost by 12 points @
Lakers, lost by 5 points @ Suns and they lost @ Jazz by 13 points! So
the Rockets despite being a great team have huge problems on the road
like any Western conference team. There's no way the Rockets should be
the favorites tonight and the value is clearly with the Mavericks.
